Great Lakes Sustainable Wine Alliance

November 06, 2017

The Michigan Wine Collaborative initiated the Great Lakes Sustainable Wine Alliance (GLSWA) in 2017 to recognize members of the Collaborative who are verified by the Michigan Agriculture Assurance Program www.maeap.org. Over time, the program may be expanded to include more ecosystem and habitat criteria, social equity criteria and winery criteria. In preparation for the future, we encourage members of the industry to work through sustainability self-assessments from other regions that are available on-line.

By becoming a member of the Michigan Wine Collaborative and the Great Lakes Sustainable Wine Alliance you will:

  • Learn about educational opportunities to develop strategies for communicating with your customers regarding your sustainability practices

  • Have opportunities to provide input from the wine industry in Michigan to MAEAP and in the future development of the Great Lakes Sustainable Wine Alliance

VESTA

November 06, 2017

Imagine taking specialized courses, earning college credit, and expanding your understanding of the grape and wine industry from the convenience of your home or office.  The Viticulture Enology Science and Technology Alliance (VESTA) is a national grape and wine education program that combines the flexibility of online instruction; instructor guided education from industry professionals; and crucial hands on experience under the guidance of an experienced mentor at a vineyard or winery close to where you live.  VESTA is designed to come to the student within the United States or around the world.

As an approved practicum site for VESTA, Youngblood Vineyard offers students enrolled in the program an opportunity to earn practicum hours toward their degree.
